Goa Doctor Arrested in Alleged Overseas Job Scam
Panaji: In a shocking turn of events, a skin specialist from Mapusa, Goa, was arrested by the Goa Police crime branch on Friday in connection with an alleged overseas job scam. The arrest came after a complainant accused the doctor and her brother of cheating her and 12 others out of Rs. 27 lakh by promising jobs in New Zealand.
Crime branch SP Rahul Gupta said the FIR was registered based on the complaint filed by Sanjana Mahesh Bhicholkar, a resident of Guirim. According to him, the scam began in September 2020 and continued until recently.

Gupta explained that the victims were never given the promised employment opportunities. It was also revealed that the Mapusa doctor had forged a visa document. Additionally, both the doctor and her brother failed to provide jobs in New Zealand, ultimately deceiving the complainant and 12 other victims out of Rs. 27 lakh in various transactions.
According to TOI, the crime branch SP added, “We have arrested Meena (the skin specialist). The probe is underway to find the second accused.”

Medical dialogues had earlier reported that in a shocking case of medical fraud reported from the city, a fake doctor and his associate have been arrested for allegedly conducting a fake knee surgery on an elderly woman at her home three years ago. They are accused of deceiving her and charging a hefty fee of Rs 7.20 lakh for the fraudulent procedure.
