POPCON 2025: India's First National Conference for Practicing Oral Pathologists

Hisar: The Practising Oral Pathologists and Microbiologists Association (POPMA) successfully organised “POPCON 2025”, India’s First National Conference of Practicing Oral Pathologists, marking a milestone in the history of Oral Pathology in the country. Over 250 delegates across India participated, including academicians, clinicians, and postgraduate and undergraduate students.
The event brought together experts and delegates from across India and abroad, promoting collaboration, self-reliance, and innovation in oral diagnostic sciences. The central theme of the conference was “Atmanirbhar Oral Pathologist – Making Oral Pathologists Self-Sufficient.”
The two-day event featured scientific sessions covering Oral Diagnostics, Head & Neck Oncology, Oral Microbiology, Oral Radiology, Oral Medicine, Clinical Research, Setting up medical laboratory and oral pathology laboratory, Laboratory Management, and Digital Health Innovations. Over 18 eminent national and international speakers delivered lectures on subjects like oral cancer diagnostics, biopsy techniques, forensic odontology, antimicrobial resistance, preventive pathology, and artificial intelligence in diagnostics.

More than 250 delegates from various states of India participated, including academicians, clinicians, and postgraduate and undergraduate students. The conference also hosted 40+ scientific poster presentations and awarded 12 CDE points to eligible participants.
The event’s grand success was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the POPMA Governing Body, Scientific Committee, IT Cell, and Organising Team, including Dr Shailja Chatterjee, Dr Abhishek Banerjee, Dr Bhuvan Nagpal, Dr Anuj Kalra, Dr Piyush Sharma, Dr Abhishek Bhadranna, Dr Ketki Kalele, Dr Nidhi Jadhav, Dr Niharika M., Dr Honika, Dr Swapnita Patil, Dr Shivani Mungala, Dr Neha Kumari, and Dr Vandana Shah, the press release stated.
Special appreciation was extended to Dr Piyush Sharma, Chairperson of the IT Cell, for his technical leadership and flawless execution of digital operations — from automated registration to live streaming, digital certificate dispatch, and data integration.
POPCON 2025 was not merely a conference but a movement symbolising unity, professional growth, and scientific empowerment of Indian Oral Pathologists. Through this event, POPMA reaffirmed its vision to strengthen diagnostic practice, encourage research collaboration, and foster healthcare innovation across India.
