Pune paediatrician defrauded of Rs 24.2 lakh in fake plot lease

Pune Doctor Duped by Former Corporator and Associates
Pune: The Kalepadal police have registered a case against a former corporator, her husband, and two others for allegedly cheating a doctor of Rs 24.2 lakh under the pretext of securing a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) amenity space plot on a 30-year lease.
The complaint was filed by a 39-year-old paediatrician residing at Neco Beaumont, Nyati Estate, Mohammadwadi. Alongside the corporator and her husband, both residents of Alhat Vasti, the FIR names a resident of Mohammadwadi and a resident of Mangalwar Peth as co-accused. Police said the alleged fraud took place between November 2023 and July 2025 at Vertical Alsennia in Mohammadwadi and the Alhat residence.

The accused claimed that a plot near the doctor’s residence was available for Rs 25–26 lakh. Believing these claims, the doctor and an associate visited the accused’s residence, where they were shown documents suggesting that PMC had granted similar amenity space leases to other hospitals. Convinced, the doctor allegedly paid a total of Rs 24.2 lakh in instalments, including Rs 2.7 lakh purportedly as GST.

Following the complaint, the Kalepadal police registered a case under sections 3(5), 318 (4) and 316 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to cheating and criminal conspiracy. PSI Prashant Ashok Latapate is investigating the case.
