Quack Arrested for performing illegal abortion

Chennai: In a shocking case of medical fraud and illegal abortion, a man impersonating a doctor has been arrested in Kallakurichi district for performing an illegal abortion on a 17-year-old girl at an unlicensed clinic.
The accused was operating a clinic named Sai Shiva Medical in Devapandalam village, near Sankarapuram, without any formal medical qualifications. According to reports, he had been administering injections and medicines to patients under the pretence of being a qualified doctor.
The incident came to light after the family of a minor girl from the Tiruvannamalai district filed a complaint. Responding promptly, the police carried out a surprise inspection of the clinic that lasted for two hours.

According to DT Next, preliminary findings suggest that the five-month-old foetus was aborted and then burnt under the Manimuthar bridge in Sankarapuram. A forensic team is currently examining the location.
In this situation, the incident of the abortion and burning of the fetus has created a stir in the Sankarapuram area, as reported by Thanthi TV.
The case has sparked outrage over the prevalence of fake medical practitioners and the risks posed to vulnerable individuals, particularly minors.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a 68-year-old doctor cum owner of a private hospital in Krishnapuram has been arrested by Kilikollur police for allegedly conducting illegal abortion on a minor girl. According to the police, the doctor is facing allegations of conducting the procedure without proper documentation and misrepresenting the girl's age in the records to cover up the crime.
The incident came to light after a team led by Kollam Assistant Commissioner of Police M. Sheriff with members including Kilikollur sub-inspectors S. Sreejith, C. Santhosh Kumar, and S. Lalu; and Civil Police Officers Saj, Bijeesh and Anitha Kumari as per the instructions of District Police Chief (Kollam City) Chaitra Teresa John raided the hospital.
