Quack arrested for treating patients at Shahjahanpur Medical College
Shahjahanpur: The police on Friday arrested a quack for allegedly treating patients in the Government Medical College (GMC) in the Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. He used to charge hefty amounts from the patients in the name of treatment and sell costly medicines.
A quack was arrested by the police on charges of treating patients in a government medical college and charging hefty amounts for medicines on Friday, college administration said here.
Principal of the college Rajesh Kumar said that the accused was appointed as the counsellor by the government under National Health Mission in the year 2018. "A counsellor's work is to do counselling of the mentally disturbed patient and to advise him to see a psychiatrist, but in the hide of this counsellor was running an OPD in the college," he said.
He said that the counsellor used to charge hefty amounts from the patients in the name of treatment and used to sell costly medicines. "He was caught red-handed by the police while treating patients and selling costly medicines," he said.
The principal said that several costly medicines for mental ailments were recovered from the office of the counsellor.

A class 12 pass-out, was running Rajlaxmi Clinic on Teekli Road in Badshahpur for the last five years. He was treating pregnant women without any valid degree and also selling medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) kits to them.
