Rajasthan MBBS Doctors give protest ultimatum to state Demanding Release of Medical Officer Recruitment Exam dates

Jaipur: Rajasthan doctors have given an ultimatum to the State Government threatening to initiate a protest if the Medical Officer Recruitment Exam date is not released by January 26, 2025.
Even though, earlier, the doctors had demanded the release of the exam date by January 20, 2025, there is still no clarity on when the exam will be conducted.
As per the State President of All Rajasthan MBBS Doctors Association, Dr. Vinod Bagda, the exam was scheduled to be held around two months ago. However, it was suddenly postponed due to the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) exam counselling.
Dr. Bagda informed Medical Dialogues that at the time of the election, the government had promised that 15000 new doctors would be appointed. Despite this, there is no update regarding the recruitment exam even after 13 months.
The association has urged the Government to announce the exam date and hold the exam at the earliest, pointing out that the doctors at PHC, CHC in rural and far-flung areas, will be able to get health services with the additional number of medical officers joining the workforce.
"We met the authorities recently and they sought a few more days. We have decided to wait till January 26, 2025. Otherwise, we will be forced to initiate a protest," Dr. Bagda told Medical Dialogues.
"If the exam date is not released at the earliest, all the doctors in Rajasthan will be forced to approach the Health Ministry building," he added.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that highlighting the shortage of doctors in State Government facilities, including primary healthcare centres, Rajasthan doctors had urged the Government to increase the number of medical officer posts. Further, the All Rajasthan MBBS Doctors' Association pointed out how the officers leave their posts after being selected for PG medical education.
Therefore, earlier the Association had urged the Government to fill up the vacant posts after completing the NEET PG counselling. Now, it is expected that the PG medical admission process will conclude by the third week of January. Amid this, the association recently approached the RUHS demanding an immediate release of the MO Recruitment 2024 Exam date. Previously, the doctors had warned to initiate a mass protest if their demands were not met by January 7th.
However, the exam date was not released and therefore, hundreds of doctors under the All Rajasthan MBBS Doctors Association and UDF recently gheraoed the Health Building in Jaipur and submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Health and discussed with the Vice Chancellor of RUHS University regarding the new exam date. After this, the association had given an ultimatum to the government till January 18, warning that if the solution was not found soon, the movement would intensify.
