Rajasthan Medical Council cancels licenses of 8 doctors over forged documents

Jaipur: Taking action against eight doctors, who had allegedly obtained their registrations using forged documents, the Rajasthan Medical Council has cancelled their licenses following an internal probe.

In the recent General Body Meeting (GBM), three older cases among these eight were confirmed, and five new cases were also identified.

First India has reported that several doctors had allegedly bypassed appearing in the mandatory screening test, i.e. Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) and submitted falsified degrees or credentials from institutes abroad. As per the Daily, while the registrations of five doctors were cancelled, earlier suspensions of three doctors were upheld.

Commenting on the matter, the registrar of the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC), Dr. Girshar Goyal stated that these were old registration issues, Dainik Bhaskar has reported.

As a consequence of the registrations being cancelled, these doctors will no longer be able to practice anywhere. Apart from this, a case has also been filed against these doctors at the Ashok Nagar Police Station.

Medical Dialogues had been reporting about several similar instances where the documents of the medical graduates from abroad were found to be forged. Reportedly, all these doctors had done their MBBS from abroad, including Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine, but did not cleared FMGE exam which is mandatory for Indian citizens with foreign medical degrees to practise in India.

Previously in connection to the issue, the former Registrar of RMC, along with two other personnel were suspended based on an interim report by a five-member committee set up by the State Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar.

According to the report, some procedural flaws were identified in the process of registering the doctors. Reportedly, negligence and irregularities in registration had also surfaced.

Following this, the State Medical Council started the process of verifying the documents provided by more than 70,000 doctors to RMC over the years to identify the fake documents submitted to the Council by doctors.

Taking cognizance of the alleged fake doctors' registration scam at the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC), the National Medical Commission (NMC) had reportedly sought a report from the State Health Department.
