Recruitment Process of 54 Doctors at GIMS Noida Deferred due to Elections
Noida: Doctors' recruitment at Govt Institute of Medical Science (GIMS) has been postponed due to the model code of conduct (MCC) in the wake of the Lok Sabha elections.
Confirming this, the Director of GIMS, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Gupta informed TOI that even though the hiring process of at least 54 doctors was initially scheduled to be held in April, it has now been deferred to June due to the model code of conduct.
Currently, the Noida-based medical institute is operating with approximately 200 doctors and 250 nurses.

As per the latest media report by the Times of India, the elections have postponed the induction of new doctors. These positions include specialists in Orthopedic, Ophthalmology, Obs & Gynae, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, Community Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, TB & Chest, Blood Bank, Dermatology , Paediatrics, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Radio Diagnosis and Psychiatry.
While the hiring process has been deferred, the hospital administration has assured that the patient care would not be compromised. Assuring this, the GIMS Director Dr. Gupta added that the quality of treatment would be maintained with the help of the current staff until the new doctors get appointed after the elections.
Speaking to TOI, Dr. Gupta added, "It would have been helpful if the doctors were appointed at the earliest. However, by maintaining the MCC, we will ensure that the quality of the treatment will be maintained until fresh recruitments."
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a total number of 14 new postgraduate medical courses would be added to GIMS, Noida in various specialities including- medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, community medicine, anesthesia, ENT, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, anatomy, microbiology, and orthopedics
Further, it was reported that GIMS would start offering these Doctors of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) courses from the next academic year. The intake capacity for these PG medical courses would be a total number of 70 seats.
These seats will be added to the seat matrix of the medical college after the teams from the National Medical Commission (NMC) will conduct the inspection by the end of this year. The NMC teams will inspect the institute to check "the faculty and infrastructural condition" for setting up the courses.
Officials informed TOI that the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) programme, which is equivalent to the postgraduate or post-doctoral programme, will be discontinued at GIMS from the next year. Confirming this, the Director of the Institute added, "Except for radiology, the other four DNB courses will be stopped from next year. Instead, MD/MS courses will be started."
