Renowned Diabetologist Dr Sajal Debbarma passes away at 64
Agartala: A senior and distinguished diabetologist, Dr Sajal Debbarma passed away at the age of 64 on the morning of November 4th in a hospital in Calcutta.
He is survived by his wife, Saswati Laskar, a senior engineer with the Tripura Engineering Service, and their two daughters.
Dr Sajal Debbarma studied at Dr Sampurnanand Medical College, where he laid the foundation for his distinguished career in medicine. Throughout his career, Dr Sajal Debbarma treated countless patients. He joined the Tripura Health Service in the late 1980s after earning his MD in Medicine and worked in various locations across the state. Driven by his passion for medicine, he later acquired a super-speciality degree in DM (Endocrinology) and became a part of the newly established AGMC from the very beginning in 2005. As a tutor at AGMC, he had shaped many young minds for their future.
Dr Debbarma was not only a leading expert in the treatment of diabetes but also a key member of the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura (HFT). As a member of this foundation, he worked tirelessly offering free medical services to people for eradication of hepatitis. Dr Debbarma was also involved in various social service initiatives, particularly those focused on improving the overall healthcare infrastructure in Tripura.
