Renowned Gynaecologist Dr K Lalita passes away at age of 85
Thiruvananthapuram: A renowned gynaecologist, former superintendent of SAT Hospital and head of the Gynecology Department Dr K Lalita breathed her last at the age of 85 at the SUT Hospital in Pattom on Thursday morning.
The heartbreaking news was first informed by her daughter Mala Parvathy who is an actress through Facebook. She was suffering from liver cancer and was admitted to the SUT hospital on July 12 but unfortunately, she died at 6 am on Thursday.
She was a leading gynaecologist in the capital who delivered around 1 lakh babies over three generations in the district. In 1954, she passed from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College with the fourth rank in MBBS. She joined the state health service first and later joined TMCH in 1964, TOI reports.

Even at the age of 85, she continued to render her services to the patients of the district until she was diagnosed with cancer this year. She was praised for her humble soft spoken nature around everyone and was an excellent teacher to many prominent doctors who studied under her.
After holding the positions of SAT Superintendent and Head of the Gynecology Department, she left her position in 1992. The very following day, she started working at SUT hospital. She had a mindset of never quitting her profession and staying there for as long as she could which she maintained till her last breath.

Her husband, the late C V Trivikraman, was a prominent cultural activist and Vayalar Ramavarma Trust secretary. She has two daughters Maala Parvathy (actor) and Lekshmi. The cremation was held at Santhikavadom at 5:30 pm yesterday.
