Renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Anjani Sinha appointed US Ambassador to Singapore

New Delhi: Indian-origin renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Anjani Sinha has been officially appointed as the new United States Ambassador to Singapore. He arrived in Singapore on November 6, 2025, to begin his tenure after being confirmed in a block vote along with other nominees.
Dr. Sinha, a distinguished medical professional with decades of experience in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. Over the course of his career, he established and led specialised practices across eight locations in New York and served as a senior surgical consultant in Florida. His career reflects a deep commitment to improving healthcare through collaboration with public and private sectors, as well as with medical, legal, and business operators across the healthcare industry.
Dr. Sinha earned his medical degree from MGM Medical College and the University of Delhi, where he also completed a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Surgery. He has been married to Dr. Kuntala Sinha, a retired anesthesiologist and former New York University faculty member, for 48 years. The couple has a daughter, a son, and three grandchildren.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Sinha is a dedicated philanthropist with a lifelong commitment to supporting communities in both the United States and India. Together with his wife, Dr. Kuntala Sinha, he has supported numerous institutions of higher education in New Hampshire, New York, and their medical school alma mater in India, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and professionals.
“I am deeply honored to represent the United States in Singapore, a friend of the United States that is a leading hub for American business and a pillar of regional stability,” Ambassador Sinha said upon his arrival. “I look forward to working with the government and people of Singapore to deepen our close collaboration. In particular, I am eager to work with Singapore to areas such as technology, energy, and security.”
Ambassador Sinha, a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon, brings a wealth of professional and entrepreneurial experience to his new role as Ambassador. “As a physician, I have spent my career connecting with people and delivering results, and I look forward to applying that same spirit of collaboration to deepen the ties between our two countries.”
“Ambassador Sinha’s appointment reflects the United States’ commitment to working with Singapore on shared goals of prosperity and security. For nearly 60 years, the partnership between the United States and Singapore has brought tangible benefits to the people of both countries, including in areas of emerging technology, energy security, law enforcement, and military engagements,” stated an embassy release.
Sanchari Chattopadhyay has pursued her M.A in English and Culture Studies from the University of Burdwan, West Bengal. She likes observing cultural specificities and exploring new places.
