Renowned surgical oncologist Dr Asim Rizvi passes away in Noida

Srinagar: Dr Asim Rizvi, a renowned surgical oncologist and robotic cancer surgery specialist originally from Nabdipora Hawal in Srinagar, passed away in Noida following a suspected cardiac arrest. His sudden demise has sparked widespread grief within the medical community.
Dr Rizvi was serving as Principal Director of Surgical Oncology and Robotic Surgery at Yashoda Medicity. He was widely recognised for his advanced work in gastrointestinal, colorectal, liver, and pancreatic cancer surgeries, particularly in the field of minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures.

According to sources, Dr Rizvi suffered a sudden heart-related medical emergency. However, no official statement confirming the exact cause of death had been issued till the filing of this report, reports Kashmir Life.
Over the course of his career, Dr Rizvi held key positions at several reputed medical institutions across the country. He previously served as Consultant and Associate Consultant in Surgical Oncology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. He also worked as a Senior Resident at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre and had earlier served with J&K Health Services as an Assistant Surgeon.
A distinguished figure in the field of oncology, Dr Rizvi had undergone specialised international training in laparoscopic and robotic cancer surgery. He completed fellowships in Colorectal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary OncoSurgery, including advanced training at Yonsei University in South Korea.
Dr Rizvi earned his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Government Medical College, Jammu and Kashmir, before completing a DNB in Surgical Oncology, for which he was awarded a gold medal.
Throughout his career, Dr Rizvi built a reputation for managing highly complex cancer cases and promoting precision-based, patient-centric treatment approaches.
He was associated with several high-profile and complex surgical cases. Recently, Yashoda Medicity highlighted one of Dr Rizvi's successful pancreatic cancer surgeries involving a complex Whipple procedure performed on a 70-year-old patient, describing it as a “miracle of the day” due to its successful outcome.
