Retired Pune doctor alleges assault over Rs 5 lakh demand, Bigg Boss Marathi contestant booked
Pune: A former chief medical officer (CMO) of the Pune Cantonment Board has alleged that a Bigg Boss Marathi contestant and several others assaulted him at his residence after demanding Rs 5 lakh and later took away his car.
The complaint, filed with Kalepadal police, alleges that the accused had been contacting the doctor since August and demanding Rs 5 lakh in connection with the promotion of an event. The payment demand allegedly escalated into threats over the following weeks.
According to the complaint, the contestant and others approached the doctor at his residence on September 17. He was allegedly called to a hotel on September 23, where the demand was repeated. The group allegedly warned him that people would be sent to his home and that he would be assaulted if he failed to pay.
The alleged confrontation escalated on the night of September 24 when around eight to 10 people reportedly entered the doctor’s residence. The doctor alleged that he was punched and kicked and attacked with sticks, belts, iron utensils and sharp objects.
The complainant also told police that he informed the group that he was a paralysis patient and appealed to them to stop the assault. The complaint states that the attackers continued the confrontation and damaged household belongings.
The complaint further alleges that when the demanded amount was allegedly not paid, the group took the doctor’s car before leaving the premises.
Visuals reportedly showed that the doctor sustained deep injuries to his head and had to get stitches. Injuries were also seen on other parts of his face, reports NDTV.
Kalepadal police have registered a case against the contestant and several others under various sections of law and launched an investigation. An Assistant Police Inspector is handling the probe.
The contestant had appeared on Bigg Boss Marathi 6 earlier this year and is also known for creating social media reels.
The allegations have been made in the police complaint and are yet to be established through investigation or trial.
