RG Kar Rape-Murder Case: 100 cyclists rally in kolkata demanding justice for victim
Kolkata: A cycle rally marking 100 days since the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old PG trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was held in Kolkata on Sunday. The rally was organized by the activist group Abhaya March and was flagged off by the victim’s parents, who continue to demand justice for their daughter.
The 31-year-old doctor, a resident of Sodepur, was pursuing her postgraduation at R G Kar Hospital. Reportedly, she was on duty at the hospital when the tragic incident occurred on August 9. The shocking event sent waves of grief through the medical community and the city at large. Her death sparked nationwide outrage.
On Sunday, marking 100 days since the rape and murder of Abhaya, protestors gathered to demand justice and began a rally. The rally started from Sodepur at 5:30 PM, with cyclists making their way along BT Road, covering a distance of 14 km before reaching the Shyambazar five-point crossing around 8:30 PM.
The rally included a total of 100 cyclists and 100 torch-bearing protesters who raised their voices against the apathy and demanded justice for the resident doctor. Some of the protesters were carrying the national flag, while others chanted the rally's slogan: "We want justice, we won't give up until we get it."
The rally also included a 100-second silence in remembrance of the victim, honouring the life lost and the ongoing fight for justice.
