Gujarat Rights Panel Takes Action After Doctor Couple’s Alleged Harassment Case
Dwarka: Following allegations of harassment and unlawful detention involving a doctor couple at the Dwarkadhish Temple, the Gujarat State Human Rights Commission (GSHRC) has taken a strict stand and directed authorities to initiate immediate action against the concerned security personnel and police officials.
Acting on the complaint, the Commission has issued urgent directives to the district magistrate and superintendent of police, instructing them to initiate swift legal and disciplinary action against those found responsible.

The case involves a government doctor couple, who alleged that they were humiliated based on a false criminal complaint. The couple has also claimed that their 11-year-old daughter was illegally detained at a police station until 9 pm.
According to a detailed affidavit filed by the aggrieved doctors, the Commission noted that this marks the second or third recent instance of systemic human rights violations by the Dwarkadhish Temple administration and its security apparatus, reports NDTV.
Preliminary findings into the case reportedly suggest that authorities may have misused legal procedures by naming an individual as the complainant who was not present at the scene. This aspect has already drawn criticism and preliminary attention from the additional chief judicial magistrate.
Following these allegations, the GSHRC has initiated an independent inquiry against several officials, including the Dwarkadhish Temple Administrator, Police Inspector, Sub-Inspector, and three security personnel.
All accused officials have been directed to appear in person before the Commission to explain their conduct during the upcoming hearings. The temple trust’s chief administrator has also been instructed to submit a detailed internal investigation report.
Given the seriousness of the allegations, the Commission has further directed that both the district magistrate and SP must participate in the proceedings via video conference to ensure accountability.
Speaking to NDTV, the doctor said, "I just want justice for what happened to me. We know our rights, and therefore, I could fight. What about others coming to the temple? They detained us till 9 pm. Action is required so that in the future, it does not happen to anyone else."
