Shimla: The State Association of Medical and Dental College Teachers, IGMC has asked the state government to create a policy regarding the deputation of faculty members to other medical colleges.
Considering the upcoming National Medical Commission's inspections in the medical colleges at Chamba, Nahan, Hamirpur, and Mandi, the faculty from the IGMC Shimla and Tanda medical college has been posted there on deputation to deal with the shortage of faculty members.

The office bearers told the Tribune, "The faculty should be sent on a rotational basis instead of sending the same individuals repeatedly. Besides, the government should frequently recruit faculty in new medical colleges through direct recruitment or promotions to fill vacant posts."
The State Association of Medical and Dental College Teachers, IGMC is an association of teachers and is situated in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about the appointment of 30 doctors on deputation period in Chandigarh after the administration conducted interviews of 44 doctors from Haryana to fill the vacant posts of medical officers and dental officers. The panel of 44 doctors who appeared for interviews had been sent by the Haryana government in May.
The administration which was going through a staff shortage has now filled all the 164 posts of medical officers in Chandigarh, with doctors from Punjab, Haryana, and a few from other states. This new panel of 44 doctors who appeared for interviews had been sent by the Haryana government in May. After 70 seats from the total 164 posts of MO became vacant, the UT adviser Dharam Pal in February this year sought from the health secretary a new panel of eligible doctors, including senior medical officers, medical officers, and dental surgeons, for deputation from Punjab and Haryana.
