Surat BHMS doctor illegally practising allopathy booked
Doctor bookedSurat: A BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) doctor has been booked in Surat, Gujarat, for allegedly practising allopathy illegally.
According to the police, the doctor was prescribing allopathic medicines without an MBBS or MD degree and was also storing allopathic drugs, which he is not legally allowed to prescribe.
Apart from this, the doctor has also been booked for allegedly raping a Hindu woman and forcing her to convert to Christianity. The accused was operating New Life Clinic in Mandvi and Jhankhvaav.

The illegal practice came to light after police received a specific tip-off and conducted a raid at his residence. During the search, officers seized allopathic medicines worth over Rs 58,000. The seized items included mental health tablets, antibiotic injections, skin creams, malaria injections, painkillers and cough syrups, totalling around 15 different types of medicines.
Mangrol Division Deputy Superintendent of Police B.K. Vanar told Deshgujarat, "He holds a degree in homeopathy, while the seized medicines can legally be prescribed only by MBBS or MD doctors, as confirmed by a medical officer. He has therefore been booked for endangering public life."
The case came to light after a married woman, who had visited the clinic for her husband’s treatment, accused the doctor of luring and exploiting her, entering into a physical relationship, and later pressuring her to convert to Christianity for marriage.
Earlier, the accused doctor and his father were arrested in the religious conversion case, following which several teachers in Mandvi were also arrested for their alleged links to the conversion racket.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a practising doctor from Bongaigaon, Assam, has come under police scrutiny for allegedly using a medical registration number that does not belong to him.
