Tamil Nadu doctor, medical student among 4 arrested in pan-India LSD trafficking case
Chennai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested four persons, including a doctor and a medical student, for their alleged involvement in a pan-India LSD trafficking network operating through the darknet. During the operation, the agency seized 2,796 LSD blots worth around ₹1 crore, along with suspected hydroponic ganja and other narcotic substances.
The arrests followed an investigation launched after the seizure of LSD blots in Chennai. During a week-long operation across Chennai, Kanniyakumari and Pune, NCB officials tracked the alleged supply chain and arrested a key suspect accused of receiving, repackaging and dispatching LSD consignments to different parts of the country through courier services.
According to the agency, the accused allegedly shipped parcels containing the drug to cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, as well as Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Several consignments were intercepted before reaching their destinations.
The investigation also led to the seizure of two parcels bound for Tamil Nadu and the arrest of three more accused. One of the parcels reportedly contained 225 LSD blots that were allegedly meant for distribution in Kodaikanal. It also recovered 166 grams of suspected hydroponic ganja, 113 Nitrazepam tablets and 70,000 in cash.
NCB said two suspects believed to be associated with guest houses in the hill station and linked to the alleged network are currently absconding.
According to The New Indian Express, investigators suspect the syndicate sourced LSD through a darknet marketplace using the cryptocurrency Monero and used encrypted messaging applications, reshipping methods and courier services to avoid detection. Officials believe the network had dispatched at least 14 parcels since April, and further investigation is underway to identify additional persons involved and uncover the full extent of the operation.
