Telangana appoints Dr N Vani as Director of Medical Education

Dr N. Vani
Hyderabad: Dr N. Vani, currently serving as the Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital, has been appointed as the new Director of Medical Education (DME), Telangana. She will succeed Dr A. Narendra Kumar, who is retiring from service on July 31, 2026.
The Telangana government issued GO Rt. No. 318 announcing her appointment as part of administrative changes in the Medical and Health Education Department.
According to the Deccan Chronicle, Dr Vani previously served as the in-charge DME of Telangana in February 2024 while she was the Principal of Government Medical College, Sangareddy. She stepped down from the post in January 2025 when regular appointments were made, and was later posted as the Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital.
Her appointment comes amid ongoing administrative restructuring in the medical and health education sector.
After assuming charge as DME, Dr Vani met Telangana Health Minister Sri Damodar Rajanarsimha.
In a recent post on X, the Office of the Telangana Health Minister said, The Hon’ble Minister congratulated Dr. Vani on assuming charge as Director of Medical Education and conveyed his best wishes for a successful tenure. He expressed confidence that her experience and commitment will further strengthen medical education and contribute to improving healthcare services across Telangana.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that Dr Suresh Kumar Singhal, Director of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Rohtak, has been appointed as the chairperson of the newly constituted Haryana State Allied and Healthcare Council (HSAHC) by the State government. The newly constituted council will regulate allied and healthcare professions across the state by enforcing professional conduct, ethical standards, and guidelines for practice. The council will also have the authority to take disciplinary action against professionals, including removing their names from the State Register for violations.
