UP Govt doctor, nurse transferred for sending patients to private labs
Ghaziabad: Taking action against two government employees for allegedly sending patients to private laboratories, a doctor and a staff nurse of a community health centre in Loni have been transferred to different health centres after allegations were found to be true.
The doctor and the nurse prescribed medicines unavailable at government pharmacies and forced patients to undergo private testing. The action caught the attention of Chief Medical Officer Bhavtosh Shankdhar, who ordered their transfer to different health centres.
Following a complaint from a patient, the CMO caught them carrying the alleged plan of cheating patients who visited the centre. He went to the centre in Loni to inspect the matter based on the direction of DM Saxena, the additional CMO and found the allegations true, which prompted him to remove the two individuals from the health centre in Loni.

In the transfer order issued by the CMO, the doctor, a consultant at the community health centre in Loni, has been shifted to the district TB office and the nurse has been transferred to a health centre in Bamheta.
Speaking to TOI, the CMO said, “We have been receiving complaints that the doctor and nurse were prescribing medicines that are not available at the health centre. This is against government rules. They have also been asking patients to get themselves tested at private centres. We have initiated an inquiry and the doctor and nurse have been shifted out of the health centre."
Removing the doctor and nurse from their respective positions, the CMO said, “If anyone is found involved in any wrongdoing, strict action will be initiated against them.”
In an attempt to aware the authorities of other health centres, a letter from the CMO was sent to the district hospital and health centre authorities in Loni, Dasna, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar and Bhojpur alleging that several doctors were prescribing medicines that were not available in government pharmacies and requiring patients to undergo pathological tests in private labs.
