Warangal: In yet another shocking instance of violence against medical professionals, a doctor on his way to Ursu was allegedly brutally assaulted by two unidentified assailants. The assailants reportedly struck him with an iron rod, leaving him with severe injuries.
As per local media reports, the assailants travelling in a two-wheeler intercepted the doctor's car and allegedly hit his head with an iron rod. The incident took place when the doctor, who works at a private clinic in Kazipet was driving towards Ursu around 9 PM. As he approached Ammavari Peta Crossroad, two individuals on a two-wheeler intercepted his car and began assaulting him. At that particular time, one of the assailants struck him on the head with an iron rod, reports Deccan Chronicle.
The attack is believed to have been severe, resulting in significant blood loss. After the locals witnessed the attack, they quickly alerted the police, and officers from the Madikonda and Mills Colony stations rushed to the scene. The doctor who was found lying in a pool of blood, was initially taken to MGM Hospital by the police before being shifted to a private hospital.
Senior officers, including Warangal ACP Nandiram Nayak, Kazipet ACP Tirumal, CI Venkata Ratnam from Mills Colony and CI Kishan from Madikonda stations, visited the crime scene. They have registered a case under relevant sections of BNS and launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and identify the culprits.
However, an argument arose between the Madikonda and Mills Colony police over jurisdiction, causing delays in the investigation due to a lack of coordination between the two stations.
Medical Dialogues have reported several instances of violence against medical professionals over the years. Recently, a doctor was allegedly verbally and physically assaulted by a patient's relatives following her death at a private hospital in Maharashtra's Thane city.
