Woman doctor attacked inside Malappuram clinic over alleged medical negligence

Doctor assaulted
Malappuram: In a shocking incident of violence against a medical professional, a woman doctor from a government hospital in Kerala was allegedly attacked by a group of women following allegations of medical negligence.
The doctor, who works at the District Hospital in Perinthalmanna, Malappuram, sustained injuries to her face after she was reportedly beaten up inside her clinic, located adjacent to her residence.

As per the latest media report by Kaumudi, the incident took place when four women wearing purdah entered the clinic and physically attacked the doctor. During the incident, two of the doctor’s assistants also suffered injuries while trying to intervene.
The doctor is currently under treatment in Perinthalmanna due to her injuries.
As per The Daily, the attack is believed to be related to an incident at the District Hospital, where a woman who came for delivery last week died due to excessive bleeding. Following the death, her relatives alleged medical negligence and created a ruckus at the hospital.
After the doctor was attacked, a complaint was filed against the four women, and an investigation is underway.
Condemning the attack, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Perinthalmanna has announced a strike. Doctors from both government and private hospitals are expected to participate in the protest, demanding strict action against those involved.
Medical Dialogues had reported that a doctor was allegedly assaulted by a patient’s relative at a private hospital in Adilabad, triggering widespread protests by healthcare professionals and raising serious concerns over the safety of medical staff. The paediatrician was allegedly attacked on Thursday night following a dispute over medical expenses at his hospital.
In response, doctors from private hospitals and nursing homes staged a protest, taking out a rally through the town before staging a sit-in at Jayashankar Chowrasta.
