Experts Deliberate Technology Advances in Diabetes at the International MadhuPrayas Technology Summit 2021
New Delhi: From Continuous Glucose Monitoring to tubeless insulin pump- leading advances were recently deliberated on at the International MadhuPrayas Technology Summit 2021. The event saw top diabetologists gathering together and educating on the new advances in the field of diabetes
Held on May 22 amid great anticipation and excitement, the program was organized by Dr. Bharat Saboo, a leading Diabetologist of Indore. He started the program by emphasizing the need to upgrade the modern ways of treating patients and incorporating technology into different realms of treatment stressing that Technology, when utilized optimally, can help manage the lives of more patients in a shorter period of time and that presents an unprecedented opportunity during these troubling times of the Covid pandemic. The doctor elaborated that Technology ensures more economical ways of getting treated by doctors and therefore rounds of the Dr-patient circle completely.
The event was well attended with more than 10000 registrations from around the globe. The President of the RSSDI Dr. Banshi Saboo spoke on the technological advances in Type 1 Diabetes management. Padma Shri Dr. V Mohan spoke comprehensively about the need for Continuous Glucose Monitoring(CGM) and how it is the most effective tool to term a patient truly diabetic.
Dr. AG Unnikrishnan added a new dimension to the proceedings by highlighting how robotics and the advent of chatbots are going to totally change the way diabetes care is known today and how it is still essential for doctors to add their human touch to the overall experience. This was followed by Dr. Ashish Sharma's talk who opened our eyes to the possibility of how a patient, by merely putting on spectacles, can realize whether he/she is a Diabetic or not and the extent to which his eyes are getting affected by Diabetes.
Dr. Puneet Kempegowda joined the program from London and spoke about how the continuous medical education of doctors is going to be revolutionized going forward.
The summit also saw deliberations from Dr. Saurabh Mishra from IIT Kanpur where he spoke about the tubeless insulin pump which is on the anvil for cutting edge diabetes management in India.
Dr. Sanjay Kalra exhaustively spoke about how changes in diet can bring about a big change in the holistic management of Diabetes and how technology can hold hands with the patients to ensure the same.
