26-year-old dies during treatment at Hyderabad Hospital, family alleges negligence
Hyderabad: A case of alleged medical negligence has been registered against the management of a private hospital in Bahadurpally, following the death of a 26-year-old man who was undergoing treatment for a leg injury.
The Dundigal police have registered a case under IPC Section 304 A (BNS 106), which pertains to causing death by negligence after the deceased's family accused the hospital of mishandling his treatment, leading to his death.
The deceased was a resident of Hayathnagar, originally from Erakaram village in Suryapet, and was brought to SV Super Speciality Hospital in Bahadurpally with a leg injury. Family members reported that he was treated for two days, after which hospital staff informed them that his condition had stabilized. They were informed that he would be discharged the next day, and the family was assured that no major complications had arisen.

However, when he was not discharged even after four days, the family sought clarification from the doctors. It was then revealed that the patient had undergone surgery for a blood clot in his head, as his condition had worsened critically.
Despite this intervention, the patient's condition continued to worsen, and the family decided to move him to Gandhi Hospital for further treatment. Tragically, upon arrival, doctors at Gandhi Hospital declared him dead.
Following this, the family, devastated by the loss, has filed a complaint with the police, alleging that the SV Super Speciality Hospital staff’s failure to inform them about his deteriorating condition led to his untimely death.
Meanwhile, a duty manager from SV Super Speciality Hospital said, "Doctors say they did their best while treating the patient. During treatment for the leg injury, the patient lost around 3 to 3.5 litres of blood, which led to a drop in blood pressure. It further caused paralysis and a blood clot, necessitating surgery," TOI reports.
