3 New TIMS Hospitals to open in Hyderabad by 2025: Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy
Hyderabad: In a move to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Hyderabad, Telangana's Roads and Buildings Minister, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, announced that three new hospitals under the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) will begin operations by the end of 2025. These hospitals, set to be located in Sanathnagar, LB Nagar, and Alwal, are aimed at reducing the burden on the city's current public healthcare facilities.
Medical dialogues had earlier reported that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has laid the foundation stone for three Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (TIMS) Hospitals in LB Nagar, Erragadda, and Alwal and said that newly built medical hospitals will now get additional 6,000 beds.
Minister Komatireddy made the announcement after reviewing the progress of the Alwal Hospital, which is being constructed with an estimated budget of Rs. 897 crore. The hospital is being built over an area of 11.53 lakh square feet.
The Alwal project, constructed by DEC Infrastructure and designed by Arcop Consultants, is 90 percent complete. The facility will feature 24 operation theatres and services across 35 medical departments, with special emphasis on critical fields like oncology, nuclear medicine, and emergency services.
During his inspection, the minister noted the lack of dharmashalas (rest houses) for patient attendants at the construction site. This is included in the projects of Sanathnagar and LB Nagar.
The minister highlighted the delays caused by poor coordination between departments and design changes implemented under the previous BRS government. He directed the contractors to ensure both quality and timely completion of the project.
The new hospitals are designed to operate as non-profit institutions with a focus on high-quality care. The minister explained that these hospitals will ease the burden of public hospitals like Osmania and Gandhi. Special focus is being given to departments including oncology, nuclear medicine, and emergency wards.
Particularly, the Alwal hospital will be well-equipped with advanced medical infrastructure, catering to a wide array of specialties and critical care units. The hospital is designed in line with the “green-mat” standards, as recommended by Rashtrapati Bhavan, ensuring an eco-friendly and sustainable construction approach.

In addition to the new hospitals, Venkat Reddy also shed light on the Telangana government's efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility through its health insurance scheme, Aarogyasri.
As per the recent media report by Deccan Chronicle, Venkat Reddy also pointed out that the government had raised the Aarogyasri health insurance limit from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh to reduce reliance on private hospitals. Over ₹1,600 crore was allocated to the scheme in the last year.
