35-year-old woman dies at Ahmedabad Hospital, family alleges medical negligence

Ahmedabad- Following the death of a 35-year-old woman during treatment at Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation-run Shardaben Hospital in the Saraspur area of Ahmedabad, her family members alleged gross medical negligence and demanded strict action against the doctors involved.
According to the reports, the deceased has been identified as Priyaben Patni, a resident of Sanjay Nagar in the Bapunagar area, who was admitted to the hospital after experiencing labour pain.
The family also alleged that no senior medical staff were present at the time of delivery and that the nursing staff was receiving instructions over the phone. They alleged that the woman died due to negligence in her treatment.
Following her death, relatives and locals gathered there and created a commotion, demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the death. The family has demanded police intervention and a detailed investigation into the incident. They have also insisted on a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
However, the hospital administration denied the allegations and stated that the patient had suffered a sudden medical issue. The hospital administration has not yet issued any official statement on whether any internal investigation will be conducted.
According to the Medlegal Times report, doctors on duty stated that the woman's heart rate spiked rapidly, after which she lost consciousness and could not be revived despite all medical efforts.
Meanwhile, police officials stated that they are awaiting a formal complaint from the family, and further action will be taken based on the results of the medical and legal examinations.
