5 private hospitals under scrutiny for employing unqualified doctors for licenses

Hyderabad: Amid the rising issue of quackery, a shocking incident came to light from Hyderabad, where at least five private hospitals and diagnostic centres in Rangareddy district are accused of employing fake doctors, using expired, forged, or non-existent registration certificates to obtain new licences or renewals.

The hospitals have come under scrutiny after a complaint was submitted to the state health minister by Anantula Madhu, state president of the Telangana Youth Association. The complaint alleged that these healthcare centres were given permission to operate, despite employing doctors without valid registrations.

Stating the current scenario of the hospitals in the district, Madhu has demanded suspension of the involved officials, FIRs against the doctors and hospital managements, and a review of all hospital approvals issued since 2020.

In April 2025, a scan centre was seized after it was found that an untrained technician was conducting scans. However, no action was taken against other centres mentioned in the latest complaint, even though the alleged violations were more serious.

The complaint also accuses some centres of forging doctors’ signatures and using unrelated professionals’ credentials without their knowledge to obtain approvals. One such case mentioned in the complaint is Sharath Cardiac Centre, where a radiologist’s name was reportedly misused to sign diagnostic reports.

“Selective enforcement shows there’s more than negligence involved,” said Madhu, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a 62-year-old woman with only a Class 12 education allegedly posed as a doctor and treated numerous patients at an illegal clinic she was running from a rented house on Irur Road in Alathur taluk.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the fake doctor for allegedly running an unlicensed clinic and prescribing medicines without any medical training, putting the public's health at serious risk. The quack had reportedly studied only up to Class 12. With only a minimal educational background, she was running the clinic from a rented house on Irur Road in Alathur taluk for several years, pretending to be a qualified doctor.
