7-month-old missing from GTB Hospital; kidnapping case registered

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a seven-month-old boy was allegedly kidnapped from Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital on Sunday by an unidentified woman, police said.

Officials said the infant's mother, Nazreen (23), a resident of Seelampur, reported the incident, following which a kidnapping case was registered.

Based on the complaint filed by the infant's mother, the police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway.

According to police, an unidentified woman befriended the infant's mother in Seelampur about a week ago. The woman had been meeting her regularly and had gained her trust, police said.

On Sunday, the two women went to the GTB Hospital together, and she left her son with her while she went inside to get a medical slip. When she returned, she found the woman and her son missing, they said.

A PCR call regarding the incident was received, following which police initiated inquiries and registered a case of kidnapping, an officer said.

Efforts are underway to trace the missing child and apprehend the accused woman, the officer said.

The recent incident has triggered concerns about patient safety and security at the hospital premises.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a shocking incident, a woman posing as a nurse allegedly kidnapped a six-month-old infant from Dr BC Roy Post Graduate Institute of Paediatric Sciences on Monday morning, deceiving the baby's mother by offering assistance.

The infant was safely rescued within hours from Bhangar in South 24-Parganas, approximately 33 km from the hospital, and the accused has been arrested. According to the news reports, the child’s 18-year-old mother had boarded a bus from her maternal home at Uttar Kashipur around 9 am on Monday.
