8 arrested for creating ruckus at Ludhiana Civil hospital, manhandling staff
Ludhiana: Chaos erupted at the Ludhiana Civil Hospital over a clash between two groups, the police have booked as many as 13 people and made eight arrests in connection with the case.
Patients at the hospital’s emergency ward were in an absolute state of panic after two groups from the same neighbourhood visited the hospital to get medical treatment and ran into each other, creating a scuffle at the hospital on Friday night.
It has been revealed that the clashing parties are neighbours who had previously fought over an issue with kite flying at Harbanpur.
Following this, Division Number 2 police have also registered an FIR against two groups under Sections 160 (punishment for committing affray), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of an offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the IPC.

According to the police, Naveen along with his friends was flying kites from his house rooftop at Harbanspura and his neighbour Sahil along with his friends was also flying a kite from the rooftop of his house. Meanwhile, both groups entered into a scuffle and they received injuries on January 13.
Later on the same day, the group led by Naveen visited the hospital to receive treatment for their injuries around 7 pm. On the other hand, the other members led by Sahil also reached the hospital. As a result, another clash took place at the hospital when both groups ran into each other.
The fight not only lasted between the two groups, but they also pelted stones at the emergency ward and tried to vandalise the hospital complex.
Later when hospital staff tried to intervene, the accused manhandled them as well.
Division number 2 station house officer (SHO) Arshpreet Kaur told HT, “Police have booked as many as 13 in the case and arrested eight of them. Raids are being conducted to arrest the rest of them.”
Meanwhile, earlier another clash took place at the Ludhiana Civil hospital which had been reported by the Medical dialogues team. The kin of a 20-year-old deceased youth ransacked and vandalized the hospital property after discovering that his body was mistakenly handed over to some other family who performed his cremation. The kin ransacked the mother and child care ward, emergency ward and even the office of the Senior Medical Officer (SMO).
