99 healthcare facilities across Delhi-NCR de-empanelled under CGHS

New Delhi: As their empanelment under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) was not renewed, 99 healthcare facilities across Delhi-NCR, including hospitals, dental clinics and diagnostic centres, have been de-empanelled from the scheme with effect from September 16.
Following the de-empanelment, CGHS beneficiaries will not be able to avail themselves of fresh treatment, admission or new pre-authorisation at these facilities. The CGHS issued an order last week notifying the removal of the institutions from its panel, reports the Daily.

Patients already undergoing treatment, however, will continue to receive benefits. Those admitted before September 16 can complete their treatment under the CGHS credit facility. The healthcare organisations have been directed not to deny treatment or discharge such patients prematurely due to the de-empanelment.
CGHS has advised beneficiaries seeking fresh admission, treatment or any new CGHS-authorised service at the de-empanelled facilities to approach other healthcare organisations that remain on the empanelled list.
The list of de-empanelled facilities spans Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Sonipat. Among them are BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences, Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, SG Hospital, Medstar Hospital, Umkal Hospital and Yashroop Hospital, reports Economic Times.
The CGHS order clarified that de-empanelment does not indicate deficiencies in treatment or patient safety at the affected institutions. The facilities were removed because their empanelment was not renewed as part of the ongoing empanelment process.
The CGHS had earlier extended the validity of existing empanelments up to September 15 while undertaking the empanelment process through its Hospital Engagement Module/Transaction Management System 2.0. Facilities whose empanelment was not renewed were consequently removed from the panel with effect from September 16.
The affected healthcare organisations can apply afresh for empanelment after meeting the prescribed criteria, according to the order.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that the Kerala High Court has dismissed a petition filed by the Central Government challenging a Central Administrative Tribunal order directing full medical reimbursement under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) for emergency treatment received at a non-empanelled hospital.
