Accident victim dies at Motihari Hospital, family alleges treatment refused

Medical Negligence
Motihari: Tensions flared at a private hospital in Motihari on Tuesday following the death of a 22-year-old accident victim, with the victim's family alleging that the hospital refused treatment due to non-payment of dues.
The deceased, a resident of Mazuraha village, had sustained serious injuries in a road accident on Sunday. He was travelling with six friends in a Toto (electric rickshaw) when a truck rammed into their vehicle near Singhia Gumti in the Banjaria police station area. All six youths were critically injured.
Local bystanders alerted the Dial-112 emergency response team, which rushed them to Sadar Hospital. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was referred to Sunrise Hospital for advanced treatment.

Grief-stricken relatives brought the body to the road near the hospital, blocking traffic in protest. The situation quickly escalated, with agitators damaging hospital property and reportedly setting parts of the facility on fire.
Chatauni police station was informed and reached the spot. Station in-charge Sunil Kumar pacified the family and cleared the road. He said six youths were injured in the Sunday road accident, including Bablu, who later died, reports the Bhaskar English.
The deceased had recently married and was the sole breadwinner of his family, earning a living by driving an e-autorickshaw. He was the eldest of two brothers. His sudden death has left the family devastated and has raised serious questions about access to emergency care.
