AIIMS Jammu to start OPD services in May
Jammu: The premier health institute, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu located in Vijaypur tehsil of Samba district is gearing up to launch its much-anticipated Outpatient Department (OPD) services starting in May, following the appointment of over 500 nursing staff.
In the initial phase, 183 faculty positions have been established, with 85 staff already hired and recruitment ongoing for the rest.
According to the UNI report, “Furthermore, out of 800 nursing positions, 520 have been filled, with these nursing staff receiving comprehensive training at Delhi AIIMS,” said an official.

He added that 88 paramedical posts are also underway, encompassing technicians and other essential medical personnel.
After the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, preparations have been in full swing to initiate OPD services at AIIMS Jammu.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that Prime Minister Narendra Mod inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu. PM Modi also handed over appointment orders to around 1,500 new government recruits of Jammu and Kashmir. During the event, the prime minister informed that 50 new degree colleges had opened up in Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the number of medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir rose to 12 today from four in 2014, there are over 1,300 MBBS seats as opposed to 500 in 2014 and more than 650 PG medical seats as opposed to none in 2014.
He also informed about the establishment of 45 nursing and paramedic colleges in the last four years. Two AIIMS are coming up in Jammu and Kashmir out of which AIIMS in Vijaypur, Samba was inaugurated.
