AIIMS Kalyani inaugurates advanced CO2 laser unit for scar treatment

Kalyani- To strengthen advanced laser treatment services, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Kalyani, inaugurated a state-of-the-art CO2 laser unit on Wednesday under its Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery.
The facility is the first advanced laser treatment unit of its kind to be introduced in a government hospital in India, officials said.
The high-tech unit was formally inaugurated by Samik Bhattacharya, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and member of the AIIMS Board. This state-of-the-art Fractional CO2 laser system was procured through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Airports Authority of India.
The new unit is expected to benefit a large number of patients, particularly acid attack survivors and those suffering from scars and various skin-related conditions. The facility is equipped with modern technology for reconstruction and aesthetic treatments, and will also provide aesthetic and cosmetic procedures at affordable rates.
This complex also houses several other modern biomedical devices, including an Nd: YAG laser with IPL, High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), Microneedling Radiofrequency (MNRF), a HydraFacial system, and an advanced Triton Radiofrequency system with an IPL platform.
Meanwhile, speaking to The Telegraph, Bhattacharya stated that by incorporating state-of-the-art technologies into the public healthcare system, AIIMS Kalyani will ensure access to advanced treatment for the common people.
Additionally, Arvind Sinha, Executive Director of AIIMS Kalyani, stated that under Reconstructive and Burn Care, this unit will treat post-burn scars (scar revision), injury marks, vascular lesions, and pigmentation-related issues.
Furthermore, Gaurav Ranjan Chaudhary, Head of the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, stated that its advanced skin resurfacing and repair capabilities will aid in removing acne scars, reducing stretch marks, and completely rejuvenating the skin. This unit will also offer non-surgical lifting, anti-ageing treatments, facial contouring, skin tightening, and therapies for wrinkles and fine lines; additionally, it will encompass specialised procedures involving fillers and Botulinum injections.
