Bihar to get 3 new medical colleges, 11 trauma centres soon
1.60 lakh vacant posts had been either identified or newly created for the new proposed trauma centres.
Patna: With an aim to provide adequate health services to the people, Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav informed that three new medical colleges and hospitals are set to be established soon.
These new medical colleges would be opened at Supaul, Gopalganj and Munger. Apart from the new medical college and hospitals, 11 new trauma centres would be also established across the state.
This announcement was made on Tuesday to address the needs of people in all corners of the state.
Further, the 11 new trauma centres would be opened in Gopalganj, Nawada, Araria, Gaya, Nalanda and Vaishali districts, among others, Tejashwi said.

Talking about the controversial issue of the set up of AIIMS Darbhanga, he told TOI, “decks have been cleared for the construction of AIIMS at Darbhanga, as the required land has been allotted on the bypass near Sohan, while Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) would also be expanded and Rs 513 crore had been allotted for the expansion of IGIMS at Patna.”
On the other hand, the construction work of medical college hospitals in Siwan, Samastipur, Purnia, Buxar and Begusarai, among other districts has progressed and soon would be available for medical aspirants and the local people.

While primary health centre (PHC) type hospitals will be constructed in the assembly constituencies, as much as Rs1,754 crore has been allotted for it, he added.
Tejashwi also said, “the need to increase the honorarium of the ASHA and Mamata health workers is in active consideration of the government, which has also decided to create state cadres of auxiliary nursing maids (ANMs), government doctors and health managers to facilitate their posting in their own districts.”
He said 11 Sadar/district hospitals would be developed as model hospitals for which Rs 580 crore has been earmarked.
Referring to the achievements made by the health department, Tejashwi said “Bihar is the first state in the country to put in place the CM Digital Health Yojana to facilitate free telemedicine services. Besides, around 98,000 free cataract removal operations have been conducted till Monday, against the target of 1 lakh. 700 government doctors have been dismissed from service for remaining absent from duty without any authorisation for five to 15 years.”
