Kalaburagi: Just hours after a newborn was born at the district hospital in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi, two women, one with her face partially covered and disguised as nurses, allegedly kidnapped the baby and fled the scene. CCTV footage capturing the incident went viral on social media.
In the footage, the two women are seen wandering around the campus with the baby. One of them is wearing a white apron. After confirming that no one is looking for them, the duo flees the hospital with the newborn.

The incident occurred at 4 am on Monday when the baby was born to a couple of Syed Chincholi village residents. Claiming that the baby needed blood tests, the two women posing as nurses took the baby and went out of the room as reported by the police. After taking the baby, the two women roamed around the hospital campus before fleeing the spot.
Following this, the devastated parents searched for their child but were unsuccessful. Shortly, they approached the police reporting about their missing child. During the preliminary investigation, the police discovered the activities of the two women in the CCTV camera installed on the premises.
Police told PTI that the suspects, dressed in white doctor’s aprons and with their faces partially covered, posed as hospital staff. "They approached the mother, claiming the baby needed tests, and then fled with the infant," police added.
"We have registered a case under Section 137 (Kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Three teams have been formed to trace the accused and recover the baby. We have some leads, and our teams are actively working on the case," a senior police officer stated.
