CBI raids Rajasthan medical college
Udaipur: A private medical college in Udaipur, the Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences was raided by two CBI teams from Delhi and Jodhpur on Tuesday due to alleged irregularities in admissions.
The officials reached the college around 11 am. They initially began with searching the documents of the hospital and then searched the files kept in the admin block of the college.
As per a media report in Zeenews, they interrogated the officers and employees related to the management. They are reported to have interrogated the principal and comptroller for around five hours.
They seized some important documents and more than two dozen files related to admissions. As per sources, the investigation was carried out due to alleged irregularities in the admissions for the academic session 2017-2018, reports the Times of India.
Official information from the CBI and the institute has not been received so far.
However, it has been reported that several irregularities were found in the college during an inspection carried out by the erstwhile Medical Council of India, now National Medical Commission, some time back. In addition to this, the MCI team had also found many financial irregularities and numerous cases of rigging patients who were treated in the indoors and outdoors of the hospital reports the Zeenews.
The MCI had submitted the report to the CBI following which the raid was carried out by around eight to ten CBI officials in the private medical college on Tuesday.
The medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about the investigation regarding irregularities in the appointments as well as purchases at the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh during the tenure of its former Director Ravi Kant.
