Darbhanga: Union Minister of State for Health SP Singh Baghel said that the foundation stone for the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga would be laid within 24 hours of Nitish government providing 200 acre land as per the laid standards for AIIMS.
After offering juice to the MP Gopal Ji Thakur who was observing fast unto death for the past three days along with his supporters in favour of his demands at Shobhan in Darbhanga, Baghel said here on Wednesday that construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga was a matter of prestige for BJP which is committed for it.

While addressing a public meeting Baghel said that during the feast on the occasion of the G20 meeting he had personally requested Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to provide land for constructing AIIMS in Darbhanga. The state government can form a technical committee in collaboration with the central government for physically verifying and inspecting the selected sites, he said.
The Union Minister of state for home Nityanand Rai also asked the state government to provide land for construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga to fulfill the long terraced demands of the people of Mithilanchal.
Union Minister Ashwani Kumar Chaubey alleged that Bihar government was obstructing the schemes of the Central Government and added that several schemes introduced during his regime as health minister at the centre were incomplete due to the noncooperation of the state government.
The local MP Gopalji Thakur said that instead of providing 200 acre land the state government made available only 113 acre of land for construction of AIIMS. He said the land provided by the state government was under dispute following which he was on fast unto death.
