Delhi Govt approves master plan for MAMC redevelopment

New Delhi- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Saturday that approval has been granted for a comprehensive and holistic study for the redevelopment of the Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) campus.
She said the 137-acre Maulana Azad Medical College campus includes key institutions like Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Hospital, Guru Nanak Eye Centre, and the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences.
“The entire campus functions as an interconnected healthcare and academic ecosystem and therefore, the need for its planned, integrated and long-term redevelopment has been felt for a long time,” Gupta said, news agency PTI reported.
The first phase will involve preparing a detailed master plan for the entire campus, ensuring full compliance with local body regulations, norms of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and all other applicable statutory provisions.
“The master plan will be designed with a vision for the next 30 years, taking into account future requirements and expansion possibilities,” the chief minister said.
In the second phase, as per the plan, the structural audit and technical evaluation of the existing buildings will be conducted.
Modern designs, layouts, and redevelopment proposals for new infrastructure will be prepared.
“In the third phase, all tender-related documents will be prepared, and technical support will be provided throughout the tendering process to ensure timely and efficient execution of the proposed works,” Gupta said in a statement, reports PTI.
According to officials, all supporting infrastructure will also be integrated to develop the campus into a fully modern, well-organised, and efficient unit.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a significant development, the Delhi University (DU) has approved the introduction of new super-speciality courses in its affiliated medical colleges during the 1026th Academic Council meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh.
