Dengue patient dies at Noida hospital family alleges medical negligence
A woman from Dhanori village in Greater Noida died due to dengue at the Yatharth Hospital, leading her family to allege medical negligence. This prompted protests outside the hospital.
Noida: A woman suffering from dengue died on Thursday at a private hospital in Greater Noida after which her family members and relatives staged a protest, alleging medical negligence.
The woman, a resident of Dhanori village, was brought to the Yatharth Hospital under the Beta 2 police station area on Wednesday, police said.
"She passed away today at the hospital and family members accused the hospital of negligence," a police official said.
The family members gathered outside the hospital and protested but later the matter was resolved after a discussion between the two sides, the official said.
The family members refused consent for a postmortem and cremated the body, police said, adding there was no law and order-related issue.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a bizarre incident, a private hospital in Prayagraj was sealed on Thursday after it was reported that they allegedly transferred sweet lime juice instead of plasma to a dengue patient who later passed away. The Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has ordered a probe into the incident.
A video allegedly exposing the incident from UP has gone viral on social media. It was shared on social media by a local journalist.
The patient who is a resident of Bamrauli in Prayagraj Global Hospital in Jhalwa, was admitted to the Global Hospital and Trauma Centre after being diagnosed with Dengue. The family of the patient alleged that his condition became worse after he was transfused with platelets from one of the bags supplied by the hospital. After he was transferred to a second hospital, the patient passed away.
