Fire at Bengaluru hospital; 14 patients evacuated

Bengaluru: A fire broke out at a private hospital in Bengaluru during the early hours of Wednesday, prompting the evacuation of about fourteen patients, including some admitted to the ICU, police said.
None of the patients or staff sustained any injuries, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred around 3.15 am at Aveksha Hospital on MS Palya Road in Singapura.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot immediately, and the blaze was brought under control, a senior police officer said.
According to the PTI report, the fire is suspected to have started from an electrical cable in the basement duct, causing heavy smoke to engulf parts of the building, he said.
All evacuated patients were subsequently shifted to a nearby hospital, he added.
Officials from Vidyaranyapura police station inspected the spot, police said, adding that further investigation is underway.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a major safety scare unfolded at a private hospital in Dehradun after a reported short circuit in an air-conditioning unit inside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) triggered a fire, leaving one patient dead and 16 others injured, including three police personnel. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about fire safety measures and emergency response preparedness in hospitals.
