Kolkata: A minor fire broke out on the campus of the Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, on Wednesday, officials said.

Prima facie, it is believed to have been caused by burning cigarette stubs, they added.
Two fire engines managed to extinguish the flames in 30 minutes, officials said.
There was no report of any casualty in the fire, they said, reports PTI.
The incident, however, triggered a panic at the hospital.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that panic swept through Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after a fire broke out in the orthopaedics block. However, no casualties were reported, as quick action by hospital personnel prevented the fire from spreading. The fire began around 12:30 PM, reportedly originating from an electrical panel and subsequently spreading to a paper storage area nearby.
