Fire breaks out in Maternity ward of MP Hospital, no injuries reported
Katni: A massive fire broke out in the maternity ward of the district hospital in Katni in Madhya Pradesh, on Monday night. The fire department brought the situation under control, and no one was injured in the fire.
The fire started at 10:30 pm in the ICU ward of the hospital. The ward had 100 pregnant patients and around 56-60 newborn children. All the patients and newborns were evacuated safely and shifted to another place as a precautionary measure.

The situation was brought under control after the hospital management informed the police and the fire department. Following this, several fire brigades reached the spot and doused the fire soon.
There was a sharp short circuit in the AC switchboard in the delivery room and then the fire started to spread the entire ward.
A case has been registered by the police and an investigation is underway.
“Prima facie it appears a short-circuit caused the fire. It is being probed. Soon after the fire was reported, all women and kids admitted in the ward were safely evacuated. Nobody suffered any injury in the incident,” Katni collector Avi Prasad said.
On the whole matter, CMHO Pradeep Mudhia told Amarjuala "About 88 to 94 children and maternity women wards were admitted in the ward. There was panic among the people, so arrangements were made in the shed built outside. During this, five women had labor pain. She has been taken back to the ward for delivery. The situation is now under control."
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that in a tragic incident, a massive fire broke out at the under-construction building of a state-run Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) in Kottayam last week but was brought under control within hours.
