GIMS Greater Noida launches advanced paediatric orthopaedic surgery facility

Greater Noida- To improve treatment for children suffering from complex bone disorders in Western Uttar Pradesh, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, has introduced advanced facilities for pediatric orthopaedic surgery.
The facility has been developed under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, supported by Healthium Medtech and implemented in collaboration with Plan International India.
These facilities will assist in treating conditions such as Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), clubfoot, limb deformities, and complex fractures, conditions that often remain untreated in many regions due to the limited availability of specialised care.
With the implementation of the advanced system, referrals will decrease significantly, and children will be able to receive timely treatment close to their homes.
Paeditric orthopedic affect approximately 1–2% of children; however, due to financial constraints and a lack of facilities, many cases go untreated. Nevertheless, delays in treatment can lead to long-term disability.
Speaking to HT in this regard, GIMS Director General Dr. (Brigadier) Rakesh Gupta stated that, equipped with modern systems such as a C-arm imaging unit, a pediatric hip plating set, and specialized surgical instruments, GIMS is now fully prepared to perform complex procedures with greater precision.
Along with this, Anish Bafna, Healthium MedTech CEO, said, “At Healthium, we are focused on improving clinical outcomes by enabling both innovation and access. Supporting such initiatives reflects our effort to strengthen care delivery systems”.
Moreover, Mohammed Asif, executive director at Plan International India (India Chapter), said, “This intervention will directly benefit over 1,000 children every year, ensuring timely, safe and life-changing orthopaedic treatment without financial or geographic barriers.”
This upgraded feature is also expected to reduce the risks of long-term disability in children and improve their mobility outcomes.
