Himachal medical colleges to get robotic surgery facility, says CM Sukhu
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government would soon start the facility of robotic surgery in all medical colleges to provide state-of-the-art medical facilities to people.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated a trauma centre in the new multi-storey OPD block at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Hospital Shimla, he said that 5G technology will be included in these health institutions to provide state-of-the-art medical services.
The Himachal Pradesh government will soon start robotic surgery facility in all medical colleges in the state, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Thursday.
The trauma centre has been set up with an outlay of Rs 30.90 crore. The chief minister said that modern technology-rich and hi-tech hospitals will be set up in each medical block to provide excellent health facilities to people near their homes.
With the opening of the new OPD ward, the best medical care would be ensured to the patients. This will also reduce congestion due to heavy rush of patients in out-patient departments (OPDs).
He said that a sum of Rs 12 crore was being spent to buy new equipment and machinery for the surgery wing, orthopedic unit and radiology and anaesthesia section, according to a statement issued here.
The new OPD block will house a physiotherapy ward, special wards, emergency unit, intensive care unit (ICU), isolation ward, computerized tomography (CT) scan, X-ray, sample collection centre and pathology lab facilities.
The block will have a special provision to treat the seriously injured and other serious patients on priority. The building has a spacious waiting lounge for the patients and their attendants. Besides, it will have separate cabins for the chief medical officer and other paramedical staff.
The chief minister interacted with some patients and hospital staffer and inspected the new OPD block. He said that the government was committed to fortify the health infrastructure and separate departments would be set up to strengthen the emergency medical treatment in all the medical colleges of the state.
There will be a provision of one nurse attending to six beds and one doctor to 10 beds. Besides, there will be specialist doctors and paramedical staff to attend to one bed each in ICU, he added.
