Jayadeva Hospital to add 200 new beds to meet growing demand

Bengaluru: To prevent any shortage of beds for patients even by 2040, the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bengaluru, is planning to construct a new 200-bed hospital building within the institute's campus soon.
The project will commence immediately upon receiving government approval and is expected to be completed within 24 months, after which it will be opened to the general public.
The announcement was made by B Dinesh, Director of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, on April 13, during his visit to the Jayadeva Hospital in Mysuru. Medical Superintendent KS Sadananda, Harsh Basappa, Santosh, Rajiv, Veenanajappa, Jayaprakash, Vishwanath, Shrimant, Kumar, Bharati, Rashmi, Devaraj, Srinidhi Hegde, Resident Medical Officer Pashupati, Manjunath, and others were present.
During the visit, the team inspected the wards, canteen, emergency treatment unit, parking area, and other facilities. Subsequently, they instructed the engineers to ensure that all necessary amenities required for patients and their accompanying persons are made available, reports The Hindu.
This new facility will include a pediatric cardiac care unit, a vascular surgery department, and a cath lab.
The decision has been taken after noticing the growing demand for Mysuru Jayadeva Hospital. Following this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sanctioned ₹186 crore in the recent budget to expand the hospital, under which an additional 200 beds will be added.
Currently, the Mysuru Jayadeva Hospital caters to a large number of cardiac patients hailing from the districts of Mysuru, Hassan, Mandya, Kodagu, and Chamarajanagar.
Meanwhile, the government also has before it a proposal to establish Jayadeva Hospitals in the North Karnataka and Coastal Karnataka regions, which will be advanced once it receives approval.
On this, the Director also emphasised that doctors and staff should strive to enhance the reputation of Jayadeva Hospital.
