Karnataka's SMSIMSR achieves entry-level NABH accreditation

Bengaluru: The Karnataka-based Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR) has achieved entry-level accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).
The institute has received this accreditation after meeting the requisite national standards in the areas of patient safety, quality care, and hospital management systems.
Speaking about this accreditation, Dr. Padmashree, Medical Superintendent of SMSIMSR, stated that out of approximately 80,000 to 90,000 hospitals in India, only about 1.4 percent have achieved full accreditation, while approximately 3 percent hold entry-level accreditation.
“Entry-Level accreditation is only the first step, and we are confident of achieving full NABH accreditation in the near future,” she further added.
The Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences was inaugurated in 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This Institute is supported by the 400-bed Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital.
SMSIMSR is located in Muddenahalli, which provides free and high-quality medical services to underprivileged communities.
According to The BusinessLine media news report, in 2025, the SSI Group of Companies and SMSIMSR joined hands by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which SS Innovations donated a surgical robotic system to the medical institute and assisted it in establishing a robotic cardiac surgery center.
Medical Dialogues had last year reported that Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR arm of Infosys, announced its collaboration with Prashanthi Balamandira Trust, a UN-recognised organisation that provides education, healthcare, nutrition, and community service free of charge in Karnataka.
This collaboration will support the Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital, a multi-specialty teaching hospital under the auspices of Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR), to provide free medical care to underprivileged women, infants and children, enhancing access to quality maternal and child healthcare in rural Karnataka.
