KIMS acquires 100 per cent stake in 200-bed 'Queen's NRI Hospital' in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: KIMS (Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Limited) announced on Tuesday that it has acquired a 100 per cent stake in the 200-bed multi-speciality 'Queen's NRI (QNRI) Hospital' located in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh.
According to a UN I report, KIMS entered into Share Purchase Agreement with the erstwhile promoters and shareholders of Chalasani Hospitals Private Limited, owners of QNRI, to purchase 100% holding in the company, the hospital said in a release here.
KIMS already has a multi-specialty hospital and gastro unit at Vizag and this addition will help it garner a larger share in the market.
Besides, the hospital is situated in a prime locality which makes it an attractive proposition.
KIMS Hospitals Chairman and Managing Director Dr B Bhaskara Rao said, “This is our 2nd Hospital in Visakhapatnam (KIMS-ICON Hospitals was acquired in 2018). It underscores the tremendous opportunity we see in this city and we’ll continue to look for inorganic opportunities to build on our dominant position in Andhra Pradesh. With the addition of Queen's NRI Hospital, we now have over 630 beds in Vishakapatnam to provide world class healthcare facilities”, news agency UNI reported.
KIMS Hospitals, one of the largest corporate healthcare groups in the Country, has a network of 12 hospitals and 3,975 beds spread across Telangana (Secunderabad, Kondapur, Gachibowli and Begumpet), Andhra Pradesh (Nellore, Rajahmundry, Srikakulam, Ongole, Vizag, Anantapur and Kurnool) and Maharashtra (Nagpur).
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that organ donations usually refer only to adults but the kidney of a 14-month-old baby, who was brain-dead, was donated to a 58-year-old woman in Hyderabad. Overcoming the grief, the baby’s parents donated the kidney for a woman who was on dialysis for the last seven years. The 58-year-old is also on a pacemaker for a heart problem. The rare surgery was performed at KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad.
