Lucknow Hospital hosts ICU wedding to fulfil critically ill patient's wish to witness Daughters marriage, video goes viral
Lucknow: A video capturing the heartfelt moment of one daughter among two exchanging wedding vows with her partner in the ICU at Era's Lucknow Medical College and Hospital, in front of their ailing father has gained immense popularity on social media.
The wedding ceremony for the first daughter, Darksha, was held on Thursday, followed by the wedding of the second daughter, Tanzila, on Friday.
To fulfil their father's wish of seeing them getting married, doctors and the hospital management allowed them to get married in the ICU which turned into their wedding venue after their father was admitted with serious health issues.
In the video, the couple could be seen dressed in hospital gowns quietly performing their wedding in the presence of their father with relatives, doctors and hospital staff being present at the wedding in hospital uniform.

As per the TOI news report, the patient was a resident of Lucknow Chowk who was admitted to the hospital on June 8 with a chest infection. He was looking forward to being present at his daughters' wedding - Tanzila and Darksha - this month. However, he was hospitalized just as the wedding dates drew near.
Observing his condition, the doctor refused to discharge him but the hospital authorities allowed his daughters to tie the knot inside the ICU without causing any inconvenience to other patients. They ensured the rituals were conducted swiftly to avoid disturbing other ICU patients.
Speaking to the Daily, Dr Mustahsin Malik, the ICU in-charge said, "At his daughters' request, whose marriages were scheduled for June 22 in Mumbai but they wanted to have the nikah in their father's presence, special arrangements were made inside the ICU. Curtains and a separate room were set up to allow five people to attend the ceremony on a humanitarian basis."
Dr Tariq Sabri, the patient's brother said, "This was the fifth time Junaid had been on ventilator support in the last 14 months, with previous admissions followed by recovery. Junaid was supposed to fly to Mumbai for the wedding, but his condition deteriorated on June 8, leading to his admission to Era Hospital on ventilator support. Seeing their father's condition, the daughters were heartbroken. They wanted their father to be present at their weddings."
He further explained, "Seeing no other solution, I approached Prof Muhtasin, who said it could be done with consent from the administration. We approached the dean, Prof MMA Faridi, who approved the request on the condition that only five people, including the groom's side, would enter the ICU with all precautions. It was allowed, and finally, the nikah was solemnised."
Darksha said "Our father is our world, and we could not get married without his blessing. We are extremely thankful to the administration for allowing this. Luckily, even on ventilator support, my father was conscious, and his eyes filled with satisfaction as the nikah was recited in front of him. I wish my father gets better to be present in Mumbai too for blessing us."
