Maha Govt distributes Rs 100 cr in 1 year for medical aid: CM Shinde
Mumbai: The medical assistance worth Rs 100 crore was given during this year through the Chief Minister's Assistance Fund Cell, setting a unique record itself, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said.
The Chief Minister also appreciated to the staff of the Chief Minister's Assistance Fund for achieving the milestone of disbursing Rs 100 crore last year.
While replying to the final week proposal in the state Assembly on Friday (yesterday) which was the last day of Monsoon session, he said while appreciating the work of the medical teams.
A cheque of Rs one lakh for medical aid was handed over to one Dharma Sonawane of Nashik in the hall of assembly by the Chief Minister himself, a press statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office stated here on Saturday.
It further said that a few days ago, while returning to Thane from Mumbai, the Chief Minister saw an ambulance standing on the side of the road. He stopped the convoy and enquired about the patient. He helped admit Sonawane to a Thane hospital and also paid for the cost of his treatment from the Chief Minister's Assistance Fund.
Like Sonwane, about 12,500 patients of the state who received medical assistance through the Chief Minister's Assistance Fund Cell, added the statement.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the Maharashtra cabinet decided to provide free-of-cost healthcare facilities like medical tests and treatments at 2,418 hospitals and medical centres run by the state government under the scheme that is likely to be launched on Independence Day, August 15. The Maharashtra government decided to make medical tests and treatment at public hospitals free of cost. The decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting which gave its nod to the Right To Health.
