Acid Thrown on Woman in Gurgaon Hospital, Investigation Underway
Gurgaon: In a shocking incident, a woman suffered more than 25% burn injuries after a man allegedly threw acid on her inside the casualty ward of Civil Hospital, Sector 10, Gurugram. The attack left her with burns on the face, neck, and hand, hospital officials said.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. when the woman had arrived at the hospital along with him. According to hospital sources, she was about to consult doctors in the casualty ward when the man suddenly attacked her. The accused fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Hospital staff rushed to help the victim and administered initial treatment. Given that she suffered over 25% burn injuries, she was referred to PGI Rohtak for advanced care. Doctors confirmed that no one else was injured during the attack.
Police from Sector 10 Police Station have begun an investigation. A police officer noted that a case has not yet been registered as the victim’s statement is pending. As per PTI reports, Sub Inspector Anil Kumar, the investigating officer in the case, said, “The woman is being treated in the hospital. We are checking the footage from CCTV cameras installed at the hospital. We will take further action after recording the statements of the woman and her family.”
The victim, who hails from Nuh, had come to visit relatives in Subhash Nagar, Gurgaon, and had initially arrived at the hospital seeking treatment following an earlier assault.
Gurgaon chief medical officer Lokveer Singh said the hospital administration informed police and is assisting the investigation. "We will hand over CCTV footage to the police," Singh said, reports TOI.
